The Fairy Queen

The Sixteen have partnered with innovative theatre group Box Tale Soup to produce a new show for children (aged 7+) and families . Box Tale Soup combine puppetry, physical theatre and traditional performance in engaging, imaginative and accessible productions of literary classics.

Combining Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with music from Purcell’s The Fairy Queen, the show doesn’t alter Shakespeare’s language in any way, but makes it accessible to younger audience members through the use of puppetry, clear storytelling and music. It also presents a rare opportunity for families to experience Baroque opera via an engaging and approachable medium.
