Aside from our work with Genesis Sixteen, we also think it is vital to support budding choral composers. In past years we have run an annual vocal composition workshop at Liverpool Hope University and we have a close relationship with young composers at the Royal Northern College of Music and the Cheltenham Music Festival Composer Academy.
In 2020, members of The Sixteen will work with the Chamber Choir from Chichester University Music Department to discover, rehearse and perform Handel’s Acis and Galatea.
We have collaborated with several organisations to provide support and experience for young composers at the start of their career, including the Royal Northern College of Music, The Bridgewater Hall, Tower Hamlets Music and Education Service and the Cheltenham Festival Composers Academy.
