A Golden Age: Valletta, Malta

20 January 2017 7.30pm St Paul's Anglican Cathedral Valletta 25 - 50 Euros(Booking Fees Apply)

This dynamic programme of Italian and Portuguese Baroque music for choir and three instrumentalists is at times reflective, at times uplifting and always inspired. Rebelo’s sumptuous setting of Panis Angelicus is almost opulent while Melgas’ Lamentations are prayerful and imbued with a sense of hope. There is no doubt, however, that the tour de force is Scarlatti’s virtuosic setting of the Stabat Mater.
