Britten & Copland: Aldeburgh

17 June 2018 8pm Snape Maltings Tickets: £5 - £35(Booking Fees Apply)

Two composers separated by the Atlantic, but united by a social conscience and a determination to speak honestly to their own time and place. Britten and Copland were close musical friends, and their music opens and closes this sequence of choral works from across four centuries.

Britten’s carols, the modern madrigals of his Gloriana Dances and Copland’s luminous setting of the Book of Genesis mingle with – and echo – music from Tudor England. Britten and Copland’s choral works, both sacred and profane, form a very different creative blossoming, but with a shared root.
