The Edinburgh International Festival’s major five-concert celebration of Sir James MacMillan’s 60th birthday continues with two powerfully spiritual works conceived for the concert hall.
We will perform alongside the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and members of Genesis Sixteen under the baton of James MacMillan himself, for the first performance of the composer’s Fifth Symphony, Le grand inconnu. A meditation on the mystery of the Holy Spirit, this is a major new choral symphony for our times.
Listen to the Genesis Foundation’s new podcast which features Sir James MacMillan and Cardinal Vincent Nichols discussing the Holy Spirit and MacMillan’s Fifth Symphony here.
