When and where was your first experience of music / singing?
My first experience of singing was in school in Shobdon Primary School, where I sang a solo of ‘The Lord’s Prayer’ aged 5 at a festival in the village.
Where did you grow up? Did you have access to classical music?
I am originally from Cardiff but grew up in Hereford and was a chorister in the cathedral from ages 8- 11.
What has been your most memorable performance so far?
My most memorable performances so far would mainly be from the Three Choirs Festival. When I was a choral scholar at Hereford Cathedral we sang Berlioz’s ‘La Damnation De Faust’ and that has really stuck in my brain as a memorable performance.
What would your dream performance be?
My dream performance would definitely be something to do with early renaissance music. As my favourite genre to sing, any concert including music by composers such as Fayrfax, White, Sheppard, Monteverdi etc… is my kind of dream concert.
What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?
I’m mainly looking forward to meeting like minded people of my age and making music together! Also to be working with such high prolific individuals of the choral industry is a great honour and I’m sure I’ll learn such a lot from them.
Outside of singing, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Outside of singing I play a lot of rugby and cricket. I am currently playing rugby for men’s 1XV at university.
Are you still in education? Are you in any other young artists schemes?
I have just finished my 2nd year at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where I study vocal and opera studies.
Outside of performances with Genesis Sixteen, have you got any concerts coming up?
I am currently in the middle of full time opera rehearsals for the ‘Enchanted Pig’ by Jonathan Dove. In this opera I’m taking on the role of the ‘pig’ which has been an interesting experience so far mainly in terms of acting…
