CORO is the award-winning record label of Harry Christophers and The Sixteen.
Formed in 2001, CORO re-mastered, re-packaged and re-issued recordings of The Sixteen that were, for a short time, available on Collins Classics and it now releases all of the ensemble’s new recordings.
Recordings
The label now features a varied and award-winning collection of recordings including Allegri’s Miserere and Tallis’s Spem in Alium; an extensive collection of Bach and Handel titles including Mass in B minor, Lutheran Masses, Messiah, Saul and Jephtha; Requiems by Victoria, Brahms and Fauré; three volumes of Monteverdi’s Selva morale e spirituale and his Vespers of 1610. The label has released premiere recordings of works by Antonio Teixeira, James MacMillan, Will Todd, Tarik O’Regan, Matthew Martin and Roxanna Panufnik to name but a few, and has also worked with the BBC Philharmonic and Academy of St Martin in the Fields, both of whom feature on CORO recordings.
CORO DVD
The launch of CORO DVD in 2008 allowed the label to release Series One of the BBC’s groundbreaking Sacred Music as well as five of the subsequent programmes in the series.
Handel and Haydn Society
Founder and Conductor, Harry Christophers, is also Conductor Laureate of Boston’s celebrated Handel and Haydn Society (H+H) and since 2010 CORO has released all of their recordings.
CORO Connections
In June 2015, CORO Connections was launched. At CORO it is our aim to nurture and develop the huge talent within the ranks of The Sixteen and H+H and, through the label, present some of the finest young artists of the early music world to audiences far and wide. Connections is the new strand of the CORO record label which features recordings by our guest artists, all of whom have links to Harry Christophers, The Sixteen and H+H. We are proud to have recordings by Sarah Connolly, Elin Manahan Thomas, Robert Quinney, The Hilliard Ensemble, the Eybler Quartet, Le Jardin Secret and I Fagiolini on the label.
