When and where was your first experience of music / singing?
I faintly remember going to a parent and toddler music group with my mum and sister, run by a lovely lady we called ‘Music Jo’. We played various bits of percussion and sang different songs, with Roll the Ball being a particular favourite of mine!
Where did you grow up? Did you have access to classical music?
I grew up in Somerset, and was very fortunate to be a chorister at Salisbury Cathedral from the age of 8-13. I absolutely loved my time there, even though it meant a lot of early morning starts (for which I am eternally grateful to my parents, as they drove me into school in the early hours of the morning!)
What has been your most memorable performance so far?
The first that springs to mind is one I did in year 4 – my dad and I decided to perform a violin / electric guitar rendition of the Godfather theme as part of my school’s music festival. It’s a performance that we still talk about at home (not necessarily for the right reasons)!
What would your dream performance be?
Singing in a performance of James MacMillan’s Seven Last Words from the Cross – my all-time favourite piece of music!
What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?
I’m really looking forward to meeting and singing with everyone. I’m also looking forward to exploring new repertoire, and hopefully making some new friends!
Outside of singing, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I absolutely love sewing – I make most of my clothes, and have made bags and hats for my friends and family. I am also a violinist and play in a band called The Orchestra (For Now).
Are you still in education?
I’m about to go into my third year at Royal Holloway, where I’m reading music.
