When and where was your first experience of music / singing?
I had my first experience of singing when I was around 5 years old. I was attending dance and drama lessons at Jackie Palmers Stage School, when they started a boy’s choir, which I decided to join. Around the same time my mum found a violin in the attic, which belonged to an old friend. I was fascinated and started violin lessons a year later.
Where did you grow up? Did you have access to classical music?
Although I was born in France, I grew up in High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire.
I don’t come from a musical family, but I had access to classical music through violin, piano and singing lessons, and most of all, the High Wycombe Music Centre, later moved to Chiltern Music Academy, where I played in orchestras, bands and sang in choirs. I was also part of Taplow Youth Choir.
What has been your most memorable performance so far?
I recently sang in a performance of Handel’s Dixit Dominus with the Old Royal Naval College Trinity Laban Chapel Choir. As well as singing in the choir, I was one of the soloist, and I received extremely positive feedbacks both from members of the public and my fellow colleagues. The concert was in the occasion of the 300 years anniversary of Christopher Wren and it was held in the Chapel of St Peter and St Paul at the Old Royal Naval College, designed by Wren himself.
What would your dream performance be?
My dream performance would be being the alto soloist for one of Bach’s Passions in an important venue.
What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?
I am looking forward to developing my singing technique, working in a stimulating environment and producing high quality music and performances in exciting venues. I’m also looking forward to working and learning from the professionals in the industry, having the chance to meet new and upcoming singers and making new relevant connections for the future.
Outside of singing, what do you like to do in your spare time?
When I’m free from my musical duties I like to spend my time doing mainly outdoor activities such as hiking and camping, and I like to help my family with gardening.
Are you still in education? Are you in any other young artists schemes?
I have recently graduated with a degree in Singing at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance. I am the Morden Scholar at the Old Royal Naval College Trinity Laban Chapel Choir, which involves organising the choir and having a greater level of responsibility. I am also part of the Rodolfus Choir.
