When and where was your first experience of music / singing?
Both of my parents went to Music College, so Music was all around the house when I was growing up. At age 7 I became a Chorister at Canterbury Cathedral, where I was lucky enough to go on tours of Rome and America, singing for Popes and Presidents, not to mention the Queen!
What has been your most memorable performance so far?
One standout performance was singing with the Canterbury Cathedral Choir on last year’s BBC 1 Easter Day live broadcast, on television and radio. It was an extremely early start, but most definitely worth it!
What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?
I’m really looking forward to working with other young singers and learning from experienced professionals. It’s a great opportunity to develop my singing and understand more about the music world.
Outside of singing, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy playing sports with my friends. When playing football I can lose a defender, when playing golf I lose the ball…
Are you still in education? Are you in any other young artists schemes?
I have just spent 2 years at an Accounting firm in Canterbury where I have completed my AAT Level 4 qualification. Alongside this I am a Deputy Lay Clerk at Canterbury Cathedral and also enjoy singing as a soloist for other local groups.
Outside of performances with Genesis Sixteen, have you got any concerts coming up?
I am currently working on a program for my Diploma, which will include Bach, Arias and English Art Song. Recent/Forthcoming Bass Solo Concerts include – Puccini Messa Di Gloria, Stainer Crucifixion, Haydn Nelson Mass, Mozart Requiem, Haydn Missa Sancti Nicolai, Faure Requiem, Chilcott Passion, Handel Messiah and Vaughan Williams Songs of Travel.
