When and where was your first experience of music / singing?

I was always singing around the house as a kid, but I was eight when my mum put me in a choir for the first time. She bribed me with chips for the first few months but I took to it before too long!

Where did you grow up? Did you have access to classical music?

I grew up in Dublin, Ireland. My parents had me playing piano from a young age, and I was exposed to a lot of Irish traditional music at school. I also played the trumpet during my teenage years. I started attending regular singing lessons at 17.

What has been your most memorable performance so far?

My most memorable performance has been with the Northern Irish early music ensemble Sestina. In 2023, as a member of their Next Generation mentoring programme, I was part of their ‘Music of Celebration’ concerts around Ireland where we performed wonderful baroque music with a proper baroque orchestra! I must also mention my first time singing as a deputy at Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin – a magical moment!

What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?

I cannot wait to learn everything I can from Harry, Eamonn and all the other participants. I am quite interested in conducting as well as singing, so I am also looking forward to learning about choir-leading from our various conductors during the programme.

Outside of singing, what do you like to do in your spare time?

I am an avid choral conductor, and am just coming to the end of a two-year term of conducting Trinity College Dublin Chapel Choir four times a week – I will miss them immensely!

Are you still in education? Are you in any other young artists schemes?

Having completed a prior BA in Classics, I am now studying for a Bachelor of Music at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. I am a member of the inaugural Chamber Choir Ireland Studio, 2023-24.
