When and where was your first experience of music / singing?

When I was very young, I spent my weekends and summers at my local village drama club ‘Stageworks’, and thoroughly enjoyed throwing myself into primary school musicals. As I got a bit older, I joined St Catharine’s Girls’ Choir in Cambridge, where I became head chorister in my final year. We sang a weekly ‘Luminaria’ service by candlelight, participated in many extra concerts (I fondly remember singing the children’s chorus of the Britten War Requiem in Kings College chapel!), recorded an album, and went on an international tour to California! Since then, my passion for singing has only grown – I owe a great debt to the opportunities I had access to through St Catharine’s.

What has been your most memorable performance so far?

I think my most memorable performance to date was singing at Midnight Mass, livestreamed on BBC One from ‘Our Lady English Martyrs’ Catholic church in Cambridge in 2025. Having been a choral scholar there during sixth form, it was a pleasure to be invited back to sing with the choir. In particular, it was a privilege (if also a slightly daunting prospect!) to sing the ‘Agnus Dei’ solo in Mozart’s Coronation Mass with chamber orchestra.

What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?

I think that what I am most looking forward to is collaborating with other musicians at a similar stage of life to me. As I am graduating from university this year, I will really miss the surplus of exceptional singing opportunities available. I am eager to continue high-quality music making with other young singers from across the UK, as well as potentially collaborating even after the programme has ended!

Outside of performances with Genesis Sixteen, have you got any concerts coming up?

Yes – a few! I am particularly looking forward to performing with Continuum Chamber Choir at Brecon Choir Festival in July [2026] with a programme to include Vaughan William’s Five Mystical Songs and an exciting new commission by Stuart Beer.
