Where did you grow up? Did you have access to classical music?

I grew up in Oxfordshire and despite coming from a non-musical family, was exposed to classical music at school. My parents noticed my interest in music and my singing ability and sought a musical education for me. I was successful in gaining a choristership with the Choir of New College, Oxford and attended New College School.

What has been your most memorable performance so far?

As a chorister, I was privileged to go on tour to Rome in consecutive years with the Choir of New College, Oxford. We performed in the Sistine Chapel and for Papal Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica. As a soloist, my most memorable performance was singing ‘Zerfließe, Mein Herze’ from Bach’s St. John Passion in St. Bartholomew’s church in New York. More recently, I enjoyed revisiting Bach’s St. John Passion singing the role of Jesus in a student led performance whilst at the University of York.

What would your dream performance be?

I would love to be the Evangelist in one of Bach’s Passions or a soloist in Handel’s Messiah. Venue wise, I have a soft spot for the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford, but I would love to perform in the Sydney Opera House as I have never been there before.

What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?

I am looking forward to tackling new and challenging repertoire with other young, talented singers, as well as working with and learning from Harry Christophers, Eamonn Dougan and other members of The Sixteen team.

Outside of singing, what do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy playing the Viola and spend my spare time listening to and playing Baroque music. Outside of music, I also enjoy watching football and support the mighty Oxford United.

Are you still in education? Are you in any other young artists schemes?

I graduated with a BA in Music from the University of York in 2025 and have since returned to education on the flipside in my role as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (Music) at Rugby School.

8. Outside of performances with Genesis Sixteen, have you got any concerts coming up?

In June [2026] , I will be giving a recital of Schumann’s ‘Liederkreis’ as part of Rugby School’s Festival on the Close. Later in the summer, I am excited to be singing with the Oxford Voices Consort on a tour to the Pyrenees. Next academic year (2026-2027) I am returning to the Choir of New College, Oxford as a Tenor Lay Clerk and anticipate a busy performance schedule.
