When and where was your first experience of music / singing?

My first experience of music came when I was five; I saw Lee Mead play the titular role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat in Dublin, 2009. Of course, I then wanted to be a singer just like him. Soon after, I began singing with Dublin Choral Foundation’s Piccolo Lasso, aged seven, under the direction of Dr. Ite O’Donovan. I progressed through the ranks to Senior Head Chorister, before moving on to DCF’s adult choir Lassus Scholars, and later the professional project-based choir Lassus.

Where did you grow up? Did you have access to classical music?

I grew up in Dublin, Ireland, in a very musical family, where I was (and still am) very much surrounded by classical music. I began studying classical music in the local music school that is now the TU Dublin Conservatoire, studying cello alongside musicianship and music theory from the age of eight. DCF’s Piccolo Lasso was quite local too, meaning I was able to keep up both singing and cello for many years – maintaining both to this day. I also studied piano at the Piano Academy of Ireland, which was another great opportunity to study classical music.

What has been your most memorable performance so far?

There’s been a few stand-out moments so far, so it’s tough to choose the most memorable! One particularly poignant performance came in 2025 when I sang Frank Lambert’s “She is Far from the Land” with The Bohemians in Dublin. It was a favourite of my late singing teacher, who had passed away only two months prior, so I always remember that performance feeling really special.

What would your dream performance be?

I’ve always wanted to perform my own sacred compositions – I have written a few settings for choral Eucharist and Evensong, as well as several sacred anthems, one of which was recorded on RTE by the Trinity Chapel Choir. Being able to perform them to a live audience would really be a dream come true.

What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?

I can’t wait to meet the rest of my cohort, and spend time singing and working with them during the year. I’m also looking forward to getting some great experience and tutelage from some of the best professionals out there. I’m excited to see how much my skills will develop over the course of the programme.

Outside of singing, what do you like to do in your spare time?

I play a lot of cello and piano, as well as doing a fair bit of choral composing. I’m also interested in the more ‘pop’ side of things – I’m a big fan of musical theatre, and love listening to a bit of Elvis or Neil Diamond. Outside of music, I’m a big Manchester United fan, and enjoy playing backgammon on the quiet days!

Are you still in education?

I have recently completed the final year of my undergraduate degree in Pure Mathematics in Trinity College Dublin, and am due to graduate in a few months’ time. I’m looking forward to what the future may bring!

Outside of performances with Genesis Sixteen, have you got any concerts coming up?

I am both singing and playing cello in the Chamber Music Recitals in Dublin in June 2026, featuring some Bach, Vivaldi, Haydn, and Mozart. I will also be performing with Lux Brumalis in Dublin at the end of July 2026, and on our tour to York a week later.

Any fun facts about you that you’d like to share?

I can list the elements of the periodic table in order (in song format of course), and know the lyrics to an upsettingly large portion of Elvis Presley’s discography.
