When and where was your first experience of music / singing?

Putting on performances for my mum in our living room when I was a toddler. We still have the videos on our old camcorder!

Where did you grow up? Did you have access to classical music?

I grew up in St Albans, which is where I had my formative singing experiences as a chorister in St Albans Cathedral. I was really lucky to have access to classical music from a young age through choral singing and additionally through learning the cello and the piano. Alongside my classical training, I was actively involved in musical theatre productions with my local theatre company and school.

 What would your dream performance be?

A while ago I would have, without a doubt, said soloing in Mozart’s Requiem. Now, I would say either that or performing a cross-genre concert with all of my favourite musical genres!

What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?

I am really looking forward to meeting new people at Genesis Sixteen. I love singing and I feel really privileged to be able to make music with such a talented group of people. I’m excited to learn from everyone, develop my skills, and be part of a supportive and inspiring community. I can’t wait to perform together and create lasting memories!

Outside of singing, what do you like to do in your spare time?

Singing certainly takes up a large part of my life! In my spare time, I like to explore art through other forms. At the moment, I’m really interested in fashion as a form of expression; I have also taken up photography and have recently been gifted my second camera which I am so excited to use! Additionally, I love writing and creating so I spend some of my time writing poetry, journalling, and scrapbooking. Outside of term time, I love to spend time in Nigeria when I can, to see family, to visit friends, and to enjoy the weather (especially during the Christmas break when it’s too cold in the UK). At my core, I am a super social person, so I love to spend time with my friends, make loads of memories and go on random side quests.

Are you still in education? 

I am going into my 3^rd year at the Queen’s College Oxford studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics. At Queen’s I am also a choral scholar singing 3 services a week and occasional concerts with the choir. On top of this I sing weekly in the Magdalen Consort of Voices. Oxford is bursting with fulfilling opportunities in classical music and choral singing; recently I have enjoyed performing in the Oxford Student Opera’s production of Suor Angelica, singing Brahms’ Requiem with the Delius Singers and being part of a large variety of student concerts.

Any fun facts about you that you’d like to share?

My pride and joy is my dog, Naia!
