When and where was your first experience of music / singing?

I have very luckily been surrounded by music and singing my whole life as my parents are both music teachers, and I have been involved in choirs, orchestras and music classes since a very young age. My first experience of singing in an auditioned choir though would be the Halle Youth Choir when I joined in 2021.

Where did you grow up? Did you have access to classical music?

I grew up in South Manchester, and I’m very fortunate that Manchester has a thriving music scene with lots of accessible opportunities. Halle Youth Choir was where I gained most of my choral singing experience, and my school also had an amazing choir that would perform at the Bridgewater Hall every year for our Speech Night. Aside from singing, I attended Junior RNCM for clarinet and piano where I played in a wind quintet and the Wind Orchestra, and I played in Trafford Youth Philharmonic too which introduced me to lots of classical orchestral repertoire.

What has been your most memorable performance so far?

It would have to be the programme of Latin American Baroque music with the Ex Cathedra consort in February 2025 in Hereford Cathedral – that music is so incredibly thrilling and exciting to perform! I also performed a concert with some uni friends in the crypt of the Sagrada Familia last year which was surreal, and it’s such an incredibly beautiful building!

What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?

I’m really looking forward to meeting the rest of the cohort, learning from them and the incredible Harry and Eamonn! I’m also excited to learn lots of new repertoire and sing in some beautiful venues!

Outside of singing, what do you like to do in your spare time?

I love pub trips and discovering new cafes or restaurants with friends, and I’m also very outdoorsy so never say no to a hiking or camping trip!

Are you still in education? Are you in any other young artists schemes?

I’ve just finished my undergraduate degree in Music at the University of Birmingham and I’m planning to live in Birmingham next year too. I will also be part of the Vox Urbane Next Gen cohort for 2026-27.

Outside of performances with Genesis Sixteen, have you got any concerts coming up?

I’m looking forward to being in the chorus for Puccini’s Turandot, Purcell’s Fairy Queen and Britten’s War Requiem this summer at St Endellion Festival.

Any fun facts about you that you’d like to share?

I used to play lacrosse for Lancashire County during school, and for my university team too! I really miss playing team sports.
