When and where was your first experience of music / singing?
My parents sang semi-professionally when I was growing up and we also sang together at our local church on a Sunday.
Where did you grow up? Did you have access to classical music?
Yes, I grew up in Surrey and was very fortunate to have a good access to classical music.
What has been your most memorable performance so far?
I would say singing on tour in Estonia and Finland with Durham University Chamber Choir last summer. Getting to sing Blake Morgan’s arrangement of Finlandia in Finland felt very special.
What would your dream performance be?
My dream performance would have to be a big Bach or Handel work, that’s where my passion is!
What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?
I am so looking forward to singing some great music with likeminded people and learning from the best.
Are you still in education? Are you in any other young artists schemes?
I am just finishing my master’s at the University of York. I am also on the VOCES8 scholarship programme for this coming year [2025-26].
Outside of performances with Genesis Sixteen, have you got any concerts coming up?
I have my final recital for my master’s degree as well as more informal concerts we are doing within that. I am also doing a recital at my local church with my sister who is a trumpeter, so we are doing some classical soprano and trumpet pieces. Then in July [2026] I am going to Spain with the VOCES8 Scholars Ensemble to sing some Palestrina near Valencia which should be fun. I am also doing a concert with the VOCES8 Scholars Ensemble in September which features a whole range of music from early music right through to jazz.
