I started learning the piano when I was four and began singing in school choirs around eight years old. When I was ten I started singing with my Grandfather’s amateur choir based in Preston which was my first experience of regular choral singing.
Where did you grow up? Did you have access to classical music?
I grew up in the Northwest just outside the Lake District in a small town. I come from a family of music teachers so was fortunate enough to be surrounded by classical music from the very beginning.
What has been your most memorable performance so far?
Singing J.S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor half off copy with The 24 and Manchester Baroque. Such an exciting performance to be a part of – never had so much adrenalin for a performance!
What would your dream performance be?
Performing with my family is always special so probably putting something together with them.
What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?
Meeting lots of new likeminded young musicians who are equally passionate about singing and performing!
Outside of singing, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I play netball with my College club and enjoy going to the gym. I also love watching rugby and going down to Welford Road to watch Leicester Tigers play.
Are you still in education?
I’ve just finished my undergraduate degree in Music at The University of York.
Outside of performances with Genesis Sixteen, have you got any concerts coming up?
Singing Victoria’s Requiem with the Ebor Singers in September [2025] is a concert I’m really looking forward to.
