When and where was your first experience of music / singing?

My first experience of music was at school, where I was primarily a clarinettist, although I did sing in my school choir. I was involved with music theatre productions as well, but my love of choral music truly began when I started my undergraduate at Durham University.

Where did you grow up? Did you have access to classical music?

I was lucky enough to grow up in Oxford where there is no shortage of classical music! Being a clarinettist in my younger years was fantastic as there were so many ensembles for me to be involved in, be that in school, at the County’s Music Service or national youth orchestras.

What has been your most memorable performance so far?

I’d say my most memorable performance to date was my first performance of Bach’s St John Passion. During my first rehearsal, someone told me that it was the sort of piece that would change your life, which I initially dismissed – turns out I was very, very wrong! Close runners-up would have to be my first Messiah during my final year at university, and a scratch Verdi Requiem organised and performed by some old uni friends!

What would your dream performance be?

Oh wow – so many to choose from! I’m still very new into my choral journey, and although I’ve been fortunate enough to sing a variety of masterworks, there’s still so much for me to experience. Right now, I’d love the chance to Evangelise one of Bach’s Passions, but I suppose I would say that…

What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?

I’m really looking forward to making the most out of another year of music making! I can’t wait to get the chance to work with and learn from Harry, Eamonn and the rest of the world-class team, as well as collaborating with what looks to be a phenomenal cohort of singers. Collaborative music-making is one of my favourite things, and I hope that it will always play a part of my life, be that professionally or otherwise.

Outside of singing, what do you like to do in your spare time?

I’m a very keen gym-goer, reader and cricket tragic. I’m also a keen linguist (off the back of Masters in Latin Language at Oxford), so I’ll occasionally dip my toe into learning a different language – I’m currently in the process of learning Dutch, although Duolingo does lack in the academic rigour department.

Are you still in education? Are you in any other young artists schemes?

I’m no longer in education, having finished a Master’s course in 2025. I’m currently a Stipendiary Clerk at Magdalen College, Oxford and am due to finish a Scholarship with Oxford Bach Soloists this June [2026].

Outside of performances with Genesis Sixteen, have you got any concerts coming up?

Yes, several! There’s so much going on in Oxford – I’m doing some Bach Cantatas with a student group, madrigals with the Delius Singers and the Monteverdi Vespers with Magdalen Choir. I’m taking a much-needed break for most of the summer, but am singing in the chorus for Tosca and Carmina Burana in Thirsk during August!

Any fun facts about you that you’d like to share?

I have a twin brother, who is also in the performing arts (an actor though, boo).
