When and where was your first experience of music/ singing?

I first experienced both music and singing as a chorister at Temple Church, London. From the age of 7, I sung there almost every day of the academic year until my voice changed, at age 14. The experience gave me a wealth of musical knowledge: exposing me to music theory and the concept of musicianship from a young age; allowing me to learn about the history of music (especially the choral tradition); as well as making lifelong friendships.

What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?

I’m really looking forward being a member of Genesis Sixteen for a number of reasons. Firstly, the broad range of opportunities that it provides, as well as the new experiences that it will give me. However, I’m most excited to sing and create music alongside so many talented musicians.

Outside of singing, what do you like to do in your spare time?

I really enjoy sport! I watch a lot of football, F1 and darts, as well as NFL
and I follow a bit of basketball too. However, I personally love cricket the most. As a member of my university’s social cricket team, I love to both play and watch cricket (despite how difficult it can be to watch England Cricket, especially after last winter’s Ashes series…).

Are you still in education? Are you in any other young artists schemes?

I’m currently studying music at the University of Birmingham. I sing in a number of the university’s choirs, as well as being a member of the Elgar Scholars, a fantastic, Birmingham-based choir. However, I also regularly sing with the Temple Church Youth Choir, where I sang as a chorister.
